Player Feature: Bernard Li aka "Burn"

OJ reflects on Inglewood's signing of Bernard Li, affectionately known to fans as 'Burn', the first of many latest signings to have raised curious eyebrows this summer.

Player Feature: Bernard Li aka Burn

For many Inglewood fans these are worrying times, as IFC hits the financial reds. With no re-financing deals secured, no high profile player transfer to a rival club nor a million-billionaire as backup, Sir Chow's indulging in a spot of bargain-hunting brought about Burn's arrival at IFC.

Skipping past defenders with textbook step-overs...

Famous for his runs down the sidelines, infamous for his clumsy stumble-onto-the-pitch throw-in, Burn's bursts and pace adds width to midfield. This new signing has since been received with heightened anticipation (and growing suspicion from ESPZEN's medical crew). The Oracle predicted that the arrival of Burn will manifest itself on the growing injury list of rival teams in the League 10.

Barely legal: 2 footed challenge (of cos - what were you thinking?)

It is possible that Burn may do the job for United, perhaps as a 2nd choice winger or 1st choice assassin. Chow truly believes he can relight the fire in Burn's belly and rejuvenate the man who broke an opponent's leg during a friendly charity game. (Is this true?! LoL)

Sir Chow will no doubt relish the chance to prove his doubters wrong, and he may yet do that, but what is much more important is whether Burn's signing signals the start of a new era of austerity at Inglewood.

OJ invites Burn to say a few words:

Hi OJ,

Firstly would like to thank Ian and the rest of the team mates for the past few game.
Im staying in yishun ( THE SHAUGHNESSY) with my parents. ie LOSER. HAHA.
Working in F&B company dealing with import & export of frozen seafood products which is situated in jurong.
Ian will definitely remember cos he came all the way to my office to pass me the jerseys. Haha.
Had represented primary and secondary school team. But slow down during poly days.
During ns days, soccer is kind of a daily rountine.
Played for my unit 35 Singapore combat engineer on and off throughout my two years service. Currently Im playing futsal on weekdays and as for weekends, you know who am I playing for – Inglewood Rulez!
My favorite team that Im supporting will be Manchester United. Ryan Joseph Giggs!!!
Favorite hobby other than soccer? Actually there is none but if you insist, that will be boozing.
There nothing special about me, just an ordinary boy whom have great amount of passion for soccer.
Have been looking for a team to commit in playing 11 aside football and Im gateful that Inglewood FC took me in.
I understand that we are all either working and stuying, all for that mighty dollar.
But I think we should find more time to train and understand each other.
Think I should stop, sounding like an old hag now. Haha...
See you boys this sunday and let us take home a 3 pointer! (Fingers cross)

Cheers,
Burn

This leaves us to conclude that Burn is a suspect jinx – Inglewood lost 3-0 over the weekend.
