Yes, we won! And rather hard fought indeed.
I suspect it's got something do with us enjoying ourselves in the rain (parents forbade)...
Like kids whilst waiting for the opponents to gather up...
The joy we got simply from playing soccer that made us play soccer like we would have imagined it...
I suspect it was the advantage at the start of the game playing 11 against 8...
The advantage that gave us the confidence to go forward...
To go forward at the opponent's goal with purpose and intent...
With that purpose and intent, it manifested into a brilliant goal~!
A brilliant goal with a sublime setup...
A sublime setup that started with a luring back pass (which committed their midfielders forward)... =D
The end result of which, calmed our nerves...
I suspect the unfortunate sending off made us grit our teeth harder...
Gritting our teeth harder as we dug deeper into defence...
Digging deeper into defence to defend the slender lead against the advantage that suddenly turned against us...
We defended well - they didn't have much of half a chance...
They did eventually unfortunately, and they certainly made the most of it...
But above all, I suspect it was the belief that got us back into the game...
Refusing to believe that we could throw this one away like that...
I personally like our second goal - a sweet volley (or half volley?)
I ran more than half the field!
I ran more than half the field to celebrate with the goal-scorer...
Our goal-scorer our saviour...
Our saviour with a sweet half volley (or volley?)
Hits:
- Winning the game...
- Defending collectively as a pack...
- Picking up one another's slack
- Getting on one another's back for slacking off
Misses:
- Stringing passes together (especially when we were out-numbering them). I was thinking of 3-5-2, to wrest the control in midfield. To stroke the ball around left to right, to attack with proper build-up. ..
- Stringing passes together, to spray our passes around, to make our numerical superiority count for triple...
- Stringing passes together, to move the ball around, like how modern football should be played. Like how Barcelona plays...
I will talk more about our play in a later post. I just want to say for now,
WELL DONE INGLEWOOD!
